What Training Will You Give To Your Tradeshow Booth Staff?

When running a tradeshow, it is important to ensure that your booth staff are highly qualified and trained for manning a tradeshow booth. Remember that they will serve as your front liners and will have a major contribution in ensuring the success of your event. It is not enough that they have good grooming and well-dressed, your booth personnel must have the necessary skills needed to make the visitors stay in your booth.

Having well-trained booth personnel can increase your chances of closing deals with potential customers. At the same time it can create a positive experience for both the customers and your personnel. On the other hand, your failure to train booth personnel can create a negative feedback on the part of the customers and your booth staff.

So how important is a trained booth staff to the success of your event? It all depends on their ability to attract visitors to your booth. It is more likely for the visitor to drop by at a booth if your staff is friendly and helpful. Customers will be more inclined to visit your booth if your staff is able to answer their inquiries. If they are unable to address their concerns, your staff should be trained to escort the customer to other personnel who can answer the question.

So how do you go about with training your booth staff? First of all, you need to train your personnel with proper etiquette. Booth staff who never smiles, sits rather stands, or keeps on calling their phones or texting can be uninviting for a potential customer. Likewise, train your personnel not to have private conversations because this could also turn off potential visitors.[2]

Next, make sure that your booth personnel has proper knowledge of the product or service you are offering. This is a basic rule. Since they will serve as your corporate ambassadors, your booth personnel must have adequate knowledge of your brand.[1]

Prior to the event, you should work on building the confidence of your booth personnel. How can they face visitors if they are not confident enough to approach potential customers? Let them have a say in what is going on in the event. Give them incentives for a job well done.[1]

Finally, always keep them motivated and enthusiastic with their jobs. You can meet with them a few minutes or hours before the booth opens and give them some words of encouragement.[1]

Your booth personnel plays an integral part in the success of your trade show. Thus, giving them proper training can go a long way in achieving your goal of gaining new customers from the event.
