Five Giveaway Marketing Ideas For Restaurant Owners

There are so many different things customers look at when passing judgement on a restaurant. There's good food, nice location, quick service, adequate parking space, and clean restrooms, just to name a few. However, whether it's fastfood or fine dining, a cafe or a bistro, it all boils down to having a good dining experience. Aside from word-of-mouth, how do you, a restaunt owner, get them to walk through your door and buy food? What do you do to keep them coming back?

Whatever business you are in, a customer can not do business with you if they do not know you exist. The more they know about you, the more chances of getting a sale. That is where these marketing giveaway ideas come into the picture. Whether you are trying to foster loyalty among your clients or attracting new ones, consider these if you are a restaurant owner:

1. Ballpoint Pens - Pens are one of the best and most cost-effective giveaways when attracting new customers for the simple reason that they are used. They are always at arms length and get read by anyone who uses and borrows them. Why not give one away to customers who purchase a certain amount? Your profit should be enough to cover the cost of the pen.

2. Travel Mugs - You can offer travel mugs printed with your logo and information to customers. Whoever brings it with them on their next visit can get them refilled with their beverage of choice at a discounted price. That's one way to turn first-timers into regular diners. Since they get their drink at a lower price, you might get them to spend more on what they eat. You also get to earn profits on the refills.

3. Magnets and MousePads - Have your menus printed on these items and hand them out to a certain number of businesses or offices in your local area. That would increase your customer base and get you a lot of new business especially if you offer delivery.

4. Activity Books - If you run a family friendly, sit-down type of restaurant, the last thing that you want are children throwing tantrums. Parents do not want them to act this way and would want to leave instead of having a good meal. Other customers would get annoyed since they also paid to be there. See, kids do not want to wait. Hand out a free activity book to provide some form of entertainment so they don't go impatient while waiting for their order. Perhaps you can aslo throw in a box of crayons. That small investment should go a long way when you see families keep coming back.

5. T-shirts - If your restaurant runs an eating challenge type of contest, bragging rights should be given to those who pass the test. What better way to announce it to the world than by having a t-shirt with your restaurant's name and a witty tagline? Aside from creating buzz that attract new customers, it should provide some cheap advertising.
