Sleep centers (you know hospital labs where they test you for sleep apnea, night terrors and restless leg syndrome) use them for sensory deprivation to encourage sleep. Birthing centers often imprint them with ‘Sh..hshh new mother sleeping’.

Airlines distribute them to passengers when flying overseas. Or, for the new mystery flight service where you don’t know where you are going, you pay your money, they blindfold you and then surprise you when you land! Not really, but it does sound like fun.
